Performing Rights Organizations

PROs license public performance of compositions and pay songwriters and publishers their performance royalties.

Every U.S. songwriter must affiliate with ONE PRO: ASCAP, BMI, SESAC, or GMR.

Outside the U.S., one PRO per country (SACEM, GEMA, PRS, JASRAC, etc.).

PROs sign reciprocal agreements so your royalties travel with the music.
